Why stories for Children?
We heard and we grown up with Stories. These are few points may serve as a guideline for the storytellers:-
1.Why Stories for Children?
Stories to be told to children as we all know by ourselves as it :-
Increases their Imagination.
Increases Vocabulary and the right selection of words usage.
Increases their questioning skills.
Increases their listening skills.
Increases their Continuous (related) thinking ability.
Draws their full undivided attention and makes them focused.
Good for memory.
Good for activation of both right and left side of the brain.
Makes them self motivated.
2.Who are all can tell stories to children?
Anyone. But the stories told by the parents, grandparents, uncle, aunt, teachers, guide will have greater impact in their growth.
3.Do the story teller holds any responsibility?
Yes. They have to be a model always showcasing the morals told by them through stories. Say what you do. If not, you have to change yourself before selecting those stories or select those stories which suits you, but with a moral always.
If not, the children gets confused with to follow what they hear or what they see?
Create an environment, wherein they are free to express their thoughts, opinions etc.. This will help us to correct our way of story telling.
4.How it helps them to be a part of society?
As the leaders says, they are pillars of the country. Of course for the world too.
Level 1: The story selected at the very early age should increase their imagination, creativity. Eg.Thirsty Crow
Level 2: The stories with the morals. May include habits etc. Eg.Enid Blyton stories
Level 3: The stories helping them to see the perspective of every character in the story. Eg. If you are telling story and mouse story. Explain them how both the mouse and the lion are right in their situation. How to help each other in difficult situation irrespective of differences.
Level 4: Vikramaditya stories tells them every situation, how difficult it may be, will have a solution. Inspite of problems around us, we will look only for solutions. Arjuna story from Mahabharatha tells them to focus only on aim & succeed.
Level 5: Stories on Panchatantra and Jataka tales helps them to outsmart the wrong ones.
Level 2-5- please include patriotic stories on great leaders based on the children's age.
All the stories will have only positive ending - will make them Optimistic person, encourage them to be good and only good things will happen to them, ready to face challenges/ difficulties. They will also know that Humans are mix of good and bad, even a very good person will have a bad quality and a very bad person will have a good quality.
When they become an adult and faces with challenges/ difficulties by the people around them, makes them to think on the situations behind their behaviour. All these will definitely make them to live peacefully within themselves and with the society.
